Spring crochet projects are a nice way to bring a little seasonal color into your home, and egg crochet coasters are a simple place to start.

They're quick to make, beginner-friendly, and add a subtle Easter touch to everyday spaces like your coffee table or kitchen counter.

The shape is simple and practical, but the egg design makes them perfect for spring decorating.

A set of egg crochet coasters looks especially nice in soft pastel shades like pale yellow, mint green, lavender, or baby blue.

They're small enough to finish quickly, which makes them a satisfying project if you're looking for something you can complete in an afternoon.

These coasters also work well as small handmade gifts. A few egg crochet coasters tied together with ribbon make a thoughtful Easter or springtime present, and they're just as nice to include in a seasonal kitchen gift set or Easter basket.

Because they're such a quick project, it's easy to make several at once.

A full set can brighten up your table during spring gatherings while still being practical for everyday use.

Why You'll Love This Pattern

  • A quick egg crochet coaster project that works up fast
  • Beginner-friendly and easy to follow
  • Perfect for Easter and spring decorating
  • Great small project if you enjoy seasonal crochet
  • Easy to make several for a matching coaster set
  • A thoughtful handmade gift idea for spring
  • A practical project that's also decorative

Materials Needed

Yarn

#2 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% cotton or cotton blend yarn with about 15 wraps per inch (WPI)*

  • You will be working with double strands. You can pick 2 yarn colors that compliment each other or 2 balls of the same color.
  • You will need about 0.64 ounces / 64 yards (18 grams / 42 meters) of yarn.

Hook

  • 4.5 mm (7) hook

Other

  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Yarn and Hook Information

I recommend using cotton yarn for these coasters as it is more durable and can handle heat well.

You can also use thicker cotton yarn, such as #4 (worsted, 10 ply), just adjust the hook size accordingly.

If you do use #4 worsted weight yarn, you will not need to work double stranded.

The reason why I use 2 strands of #2 light cotton yarn is so that you can play with color variations by using complimenting strands of yarn. Or if worsted weight yarn is not available to you.
