The easy crochet amigurumi carrot is a small but impactful project that works beautifully on its own or alongside other amigurumi, like Coco the bunny.

With simple stitches and basic shaping, you can transform yarn into a carrot that's bright, cheerful, and instantly recognizable.

This project is ideal for beginners learning how to crochet, but even experienced crocheters will enjoy customizing the carrot's size, color, and texture.

Crocheting this carrot gives you a little boost of satisfaction - each round shapes the carrot from flat yarn into a plump, three-dimensional vegetable.

Its vibrant orange body and leafy green top make it a cheerful decoration for Easter baskets, spring displays, or as part of a playful amigurumi scene with Coco.

Once finished, the carrot can be used in many ways.

Pair it with Coco for a mini Easter setup, display it on a shelf as a colorful accent, or gift it to someone as a cute handmade piece.

Why You'll Love This Pattern

  • Quick, fun, and approachable even for beginners.
  • Complements other amigurumi projects, especially Coco the bunny.
  • Uses just yarn and hook - no extra tools required.
  • This is a no sew crochet pattern.
  • Customizable in size, color, and texture.

Materials Needed

Yarn

  • Super bulky (#6) blanket yarn (or chenille yarn) with 4 WPI* This will make the bigger heart.
    • You will need yarn for the carrot body (about 1.05 ounces / 30 grams) and the carrot top.

Hook

  • 6 mm (J / 10)

Other

  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Skill Level

★★☆☆☆ - Beginner

Time estimate: It took me under 45 minutes per carrot.

Yarn and Hook Information

Worsted weight cotton, acrylic, or wool. Cotton gives a neat, firm finish; acrylic is soft and easy to handle; wool adds texture.

You can use any yarn you'd like. Personally, I love to make these carrots in chenllie yarn.

  • St/s - Stitch/es
  • Col - Color

How to Do sc2tog:

  1. Insert your hook into the first stitch.
  2. Yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook).
  3. Insert hook into the next stitch.
  4. Yarn over and pull up another loop (3 loops on hook).
  5. Yarn over again and pull through all 3 loops.

Gauge is not too important for these crochet carrots.
