#4 medium yarn (also known as worsted, Afgan, Aran, or 10 ply) with 11 WPI*

  • You will need about 0.42 ounces (12 grams) [19 yards / 18 metres] of yarn.

Hook

  • 4 mm (G / 6) hook

  • Scissors

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

  • Ch - Chain
  • St/s - Stitch/es
  • Tr - Treble Crochet (see special stitches below)

  • Sl St - Slip Stitch
  • Ch2-sp - Chain 2 space

  • Blo - Back Loop Only
  • FO - Fasten off.

Step 1: Yarn over twice, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).

Step 4: Yarn over and pull through remaining loops (1 loop on hook).

Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch2, into magic ring make 3 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch2, sl st into magic ring.

Round 2: Sl st into ch2-sp, (2hdc, 1 dc) in ch2-sp, 3dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of next 5 sts, (dc, tr, dc) in next st, 1 dc in each of next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, (1 dc, 2 hdc) in ch2-sp, sl st into ch2-sp.
