  • Perfect for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and even anniversaries.

Materials Needed

Yarn

  • #3 light milk cotton or cotton blend yarn with 12-13 Wraps Per Inch (WPI)*
    • You will need about 0.10 ounces (3 grams) of yarn.

Hook

  • 2.5 mm hook

Other

  • Keychain ring
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Skill Level

★★☆☆☆ - Beginner

Time estimate: It took me under 30 minutes per keychain.

Yarn and Hook Information

For this crochet amigurumi heart keychain pattern, you can use any yarn type you'd like. However, I recommend using thinner yarn to make a small keychain.

If you use chunky yarn, you will end up with a really big heart!

I find that #3 light milk cotton works well for this project.

FAQ

Can I use any yarn for this keychain?

Yes - cotton, acrylic, or wool all work; just match the hook to the yarn weight.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. The stitches are simple, and the project is small and forgiving.

If you are an absolute beginner, you might like to work with thicker yarn first to get the hang of the stitches.

How do I attach the heart to a keyring?

Use a sturdy jump ring or lobster clasp, securely sewn or threaded through the top of the heart.

Can I make different sizes?

Yes. Thicker yarn or a larger hook creates bigger hearts; thinner yarn and a smaller hook make mini versions.
