Sometimes the best crochet projects are the ones you'll actually use every day.

These easy round crochet coasters are designed to be simple, sturdy, and satisfying to make, even if you're just starting out.

Using basic stitches and cotton yarn worked double stranded, they create a thick, absorbent coaster that protects surfaces while still looking neat and handmade.

What really sets these easy round crochet coasters apart is the reverse single crochet border, also known as the crab stitch. This makes a nice scalloped edge to the coasters.

This small finishing detail gives the coaster a polished edge without adding complexity, making it a great skill-builder for beginners.

Each coaster works up in under 30 minutes, so you can easily make a full set in one sitting. If you're learning how to crochet or want a reliable crochet gift idea that never goes out of style, this project is a perfect go-to.

Special Stitches

Reverse Single Crochet (Crab Stitch)

The reverse single crochet, also known as the crab stitch, is a very simple stitch that can add texture to your crochet. It's great to use for edgings, especially on baskets.

To reverse single crochet, instead of working in the direction you normally would, you instead work backward.

So, normally you would work towards the left. In reverse single crochet, you would work towards the right.

Gauge

Gauge is not too important for these crochet coasters.

Finished Size

The finished size of these round crochet coasters is about 4.5 inches (11 cm) in diameter.
