There's something magical about adding handmade touches to your holiday décor, and a DIY snowman ornament with beads is a delightful craft that's fun for all ages.

These tiny snowmen are whimsical, festive, and easy to make using wooden beads of different sizes, twine or thread, and a few decorative details.

Hang them on your Christmas tree, string several together for a garland, place them on a wreath, or even use them as adorable table décor.

The versatility of this project is one of its best features.

You can use beads of three different sizes for a more realistic snowman shape, or simply stack three beads of the same size for a charming, minimalist look.

If your beads are plain wood, you can paint them with acrylic paint to match your theme - let them dry completely before assembling.

Then, personalize each snowman with a button or bead for a hat, a small bow, and drawn-on features with a marker. You can even get creative with scarves using tiny ribbons or yarn, or add glitter for an extra festive sparkle.

This DIY snowman ornament with beads is perfect for making multiple ornaments for your tree, garlands, or wreaths.

Each snowman can have a unique personality depending on the decorations you choose, making them fun for kids and adults alike.

Lightweight and easy to hang, these ornaments are a simple but charming way to spread holiday cheer and add a handmade touch to your Christmas décor.

Why You'll Love This Pattern

  • Uses simple materials: wooden beads, thread/twine, and glue
  • Highly customizable - paint beads, add bows, buttons, glitter, or ribbons
  • Perfect for Christmas tree ornaments, garlands, wreaths, or table décor
  • Beginner-friendly but produces cute and festive results

Materials Needed

  • Wooden beads (3 per snowman; different sizes or all the same)
  • Thread or twine
  • Scissors
  • Marker for drawing facial features
  • Small button or bead for a hat (optional)
  • Tiny ribbon or fabric for a bow (optional)
  • Acrylic paint (optional if beads are plain)
  • Glue

Instructions

Step 1: Take your 3 beads and line them up in the order you want them to be for your snowman.

The top bead should be the head, and the bottom bead is the bottom of the snowman.

Then, take your twine and cut it to double and a half of the length of the length plus a bit extra (as you will need to make a knot later) of the lined up beads.

Step 2: Fold the cut twine in half, then thread the folded twine onto your bottom bead, making sure the folded end of the twine is on top. Make a knot at the bottom of the twine on the open end. This will hold the beads in place.

Step 3: Thread the remaining beads onto the twine in order. Make sure that you have enough twine at the top for your hanging loop.

Step 4: Trim off any excess thread on the bottom of your twine and decorate your snowman as you like. Completed DIY snowman ornament.
