Yarn
#2 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% cotton or cotton blend yarn with about 15 wraps per inch (WPI)*
Hook
- 3.5 mm (E/4) hook, 2.5mm hook

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.
Yarn and Hook Information
We used 100% cotton yarn with approximately 15 WPI. This is in the category of #3 Light (DK, light worsted, 8-ply).
The recommended hook size for this yarn is 4mm. But, we opted to use a 3.5mm hook for the star and 2.5mm hook for the hanging loop, to achieve the desired size for this pattern.

Instructions
Foundation: 3.5mm hk, Ch3, insert hk into 1st ch st and join with sl st to form a circle. Alternatively, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch3 (counts as hdc), 9 hdc into ring, sl st into 1st st to join. Pull to tighten. [10 sts]
Round 2: Ch1, sc in same sp, (hdc, tr, ch1, tr, hdc) in next st, *sc in next st, (hdc, tr, ch1, tr, hdc) in next st, rpt from * 3 times. Sl st into 1st sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Weave in ends.
