Materials Needed

Yarn

  • #3 light milk cotton or cotton blend yarn with 12-13 Wraps Per Inch (WPI)* (this will make the small yellow crochet chicken). You will need about 0.31 ounces (9 grams) of yarn for the body.
  • If you want to make the bigger crochet chicken you can use Bulky Velvet or chenille yarn, with 7 Wraps Per Inch (WPI)* and a 6 mm (4) hook.

You will need 3 colors - one of the body, one for the comb, one for the beak.

Hook

  • 2.5 mm hook (for the small crochet chicken made with milk cotton)

Other

  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill
  • Safety Eyes

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.
