If you're looking for a cat crochet bookmark that's quick to make but still feels fun and practical, this is one of those projects that fits perfectly into a short crochet session.

It's small enough to finish in one sitting, but still detailed enough to feel like a complete, satisfying make.

A crochet cat bookmark like this is especially good if you enjoy projects that don't sit unused.

Instead of making something that gets tucked away, you end up with a functional crochet bookmark you'll actually reach for every time you open a book.

It's lightweight, flat, and designed to sit neatly between pages without damaging them.

This cat themed crochet bookmark also works really well for gift-making.

If you need something quick but thoughtful, it's an easy win-especially for book lovers, teachers, or kids who enjoy cute stationery.

Because it's small, you can make multiple versions without it feeling like a big commitment.

Another nice thing about this crochet bookmark pattern cat design is how flexible it is.

You can stick with classic cat colours, or switch things up completely depending on personality or theme. It's the kind of project that naturally turns into a collection once you've made your first one.

You just have to pair it with this cute cat crochet trinket box and cat crochet keychain!

And because it uses very little yarn, this cat crochet bookmark pattern is perfect for scrap busting.

You can experiment freely with colours and expressions without worrying about waste, which makes it a great "in-between" project when you don't want anything too big.

Materials Needed

Yarn

  • #2 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% cotton or cotton blend yarn with about 15 wraps per inch (WPI)*
    • You will need about 0.11 ounces, 7.6 yards (3 grams, 7 meters) of yarn.
    • You will also need a small amount of yarn for the facial features.

Hook

  • 3 mm hook

Other

  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Yarn and Hook Information

Great to use up any scrap yarn you might have. Acrylic yarn works just as well, but for gifts, I find that 100% cotton usually looks nicer and is more durable.
