Stitches and Abbreviations - US Terms

  • Ch - Chain
  • St/s - Stitch/es
  • Sl st - Slip Stitch
  • Dc - Double crochet
  • Sk - Skip
  • Tr - Treble Crochet (see special stitches below)
  • Ch1-sp - Chain 1 Space

  • FO - Fasten Off
  • [ ] at the end of each row indicates how many stitches are needed in that row.

Special Stitches

Treble Crochet

  1. Yarn over twice, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).
  2. Next, yarn over and pull through two loops (3 loops on hook).
  3. Then, yarn over and pull through two loops (2 loops on hook).
  4. Yarn over and pull through remaining loops (1 loop on hook).

Reverse Single Crochet (Crab stitch)

The reverse single crochet, also known as the crab stitch, is a very simple stitch that can add texture to your crochet. It's great to use for edgings, especially on baskets.

To reverse single crochet, instead of working in the direction you normally would, you instead work backward.

So, normally you would work towards the left. In reverse single crochet, you would work towards the right.

Gauge

Gauge is not too important for these crochet heart coasters.

Finished Size
