If you've got leftover cotton yarn and no idea what to do with it, these easy crochet scrubbies are a solid go-to.

They're quick to make, genuinely useful, and easy to customise depending on how you plan to use them.

These scrubbies are great for everyday cleaning, whether you keep them by the sink for dishes or use them as part of a simple self-care routine.

The texture gives them just enough grip to be effective without feeling too rough, especially if you're using softer cotton yarn.

One of the best parts about these easy crochet scrubbies is how flexible they are. You can keep them simple for speed, or add a small hanging loop so they're easier to dry and store.

They're also ideal for batching-perfect if you're making multiples for gifts, markets, or just stocking up your own kitchen.

If you enjoy small thoughtful makes or making a gift set for someone special, this long crochet heart bookmark is similar in feel, and goes well with this mini crochet drawstring pouch, both being quick projects you can finish in a short sitting.

Why You'll Love This Pattern

  • Uses scrap yarn, making it a practical stash-busting project
  • Works up quickly-great for last-minute makes or batching

Yarn

  • #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% cotton or cotton blend yarn with about 14 wraps per inch (WPI)*

Crochet Tips, Yarn Choices, and Color Inspiration

  • Cotton yarn is the best choice for durability and absorbency; avoid acrylic for wet use
  • Hold two strands together if you want a thicker, sturdier scrubbie. This will also make the scrubbie bigger.
  • Neutral tones work well for kitchen sets, while soft pastels suit gift bundles
  • Use different colours to separate uses (e.g. dishes vs surfaces)
  • Add a small chain loop at the end if you want to hang them to dry
  • If making multiples, crochet all the bases first, then add loops at the end to save time

Perfect Occasions to Use This Craft

  • Housewarming or hostess gifts paired with kitchen items
  • Small handmade add-ons for birthdays or holidays
  • Market prep when you need quick, low-cost products
  • Everyday use in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Pairing with soaps, candles, or cleaning bundles
  • Using up leftover cotton yarn from larger projects

How To Use This Craft

  • Keep one at the sink as a reusable dish scrubber
  • Hang it up to dry using a loop
  • Use as a gentle face scrubby with softer yarn
  • Create matching sets for gifting or selling
  • Assign colours for different cleaning tasks
  • Add to a self-care set with soap or skincare items
