Summer projects should feel easy.

This easy crochet bag - Amelia is the kind of pattern you reach for when you want something relaxing to make - no complicated shaping, no heavy structure - just simple stitches and steady progress.

It's practical and stylish, that make that works well for everyday use or gifting, and it pairs naturally with other bag projects like the easy crochet bag - Isla or crochet bag - Olivia.

Worked with double strands for added strength, this bag balances softness with durability.

It's especially beautiful in cotton, which gives it that breathable, slightly structured feel that's perfect for warm weather.

Think farmers market mornings, sandy towels at the beach, or a go-to yarn project bag that actually holds its shape.

If you're new to crochet bags or accessories, this is a great place to begin.

The construction is straightforward, the stitch pattern is repetitive enough to memorise quickly, and the result feels polished without being fussy.

This easy crochet bag is less about rigidity and more about everyday usefulness - something you'll genuinely carry.

Why You'll Love This Pattern

  • It grows quickly thanks to double strands.
  • The structure feels sturdy without being bulky or heavy.
  • Cotton yarn gives it durability while keeping it breathable for summer use.
  • The design is versatile - casual enough for the beach, neat enough for everyday errands.
  • You can customise the size depending on whether you want a project bag, makeup pouch, or roomy market tote.
  • It's a reliable, repeatable pattern if you like making multiples for gifts or markets.
  • This bag feels relaxed rather than rigid - it softens slightly with use, which gives it that effortless summer look.

Materials Needed

Yarn

#4 Medium (worsted) weight yarn with about 10 Wraps Per Inch (WPI)*

  • You will need 2 colors:
    • Col A (base and top color, e.g. yellow): 4.40 ounces / 214 yards [125 grams / 195 meters]
    • Col B (middle color, e.g. verigated): 4.20 ounces / 206 yards [120 grams / 188 meters]
