Materials Needed

Yarn

  • Acrylic Yarn (Jumbo, Roving) with 3 Wraps Per Inch (WPI)*
    • You will need about 1.76 ounces (50 grams) of yarn.
    • You will need about 16 yards (14 metres) of yarn.

Hook

  • 15 mm hk (P/Q)

Other

  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Stitches and Abbreviations - US Terms

  • Ch - Chain
  • Tr - Treble Crochet
  • [ ] at the end of each row indicates how many stitches there need to be in that row.
  • FO - Fasten off.
  • Sl st - Slip stitch.

Special Stitches

Treble Crochet

  1. Yarn over twice, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).
  2. Next, yarn over and pull through two loops (3 loops on hook).
  3. Then, yarn over and pull through two loops (2 loops on hook).
  4. Yarn over and pull through remaining loops (1 loop on hook).

Gauge is not too important for this crochet pattern.

Instructions

Foundation: Ch 26.

Row 1: 1 tr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 tr in each remaining chain. [24 tr].

Fold your crochet headband in half, matching the short ends. Sl st the short ends together to join. FO and weave in any ends.
