Materials Needed

Yarn

#2 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% cotton or cotton blend yarn with about 15 wraps per inch (WPI)*

  • You will need 3 colors - one for the main wreath, secondary wreath color, and one for the bow.

Hook

  • 4 mm (G) hook
  • 3 mm hook

Other

  • Yarn needle for weaving ends
  • Scissors

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Stitches and Abbreviations - US Terms

  • Col - Color
  • Hk - Hook
  • Ch - Chain
  • Sc - Single Crochet
  • Sl st - Slip stitch
  • St/s - Stitch/es
  • [ ] at the end of each round indicates how many the round needs.

Not critical for this small ornament.

Instructions

Col A = Main wreath color

Col B = Secondary wreath color

Col C = Bow color

Foundation: Wrap col A around your fingers 10 times to make a ring.

Round 1: 4mm hk, ch2 into ring, 23 sc into the ring, sl st into 1st sc. [23]

Round 2: Ch1, sc into same st and into each st after, sl st into 1st sc [23]

Process of making a mini crochet wreath.

Round 3: Ch5, remove hk from col A, sl st col B into next st, ch 5 with col B. Remove hk from col B and *insert into top of col A, sc into next st, ch 5. Remove hk from col A and insert into top of col B, sc into next st, ch5.* repeat from * until you reach the end (ending on col B).

You will have 5 ch for both col A and col B. Increase each of those chains by 11 ch (total = ch16 for col A and ch 16 for col B). Sl st top of col A chain into top of col B chain to join using both strands. Fasten off, knot the yarn together and weave in ends.

For the bow: 3mm hkCol C, ch 40. Fasten off and cut off ends. Shape chain into a bow shape. Wrap yarn around middle of bow a few times to hold it together, then tie off. Sew onto top of wreath.
