Materials Needed

  • 1 x sheet of square origami paper or lightweight card stock

6 inch x 6 inch (15 cm x 15 cm) square paper is ideal for a standard gift card.

Instructions

Step 1: Start with the color you want your gift card holder to be facing up. The color facing down will become your strip color.

Step 2: Fold the top edge down slightly. This will be the width of your strip.

Step 3: Flip your paper over from left to right, making sure the strip is still at the top.

Step 4: Place your gift card in the middle of the paper as shown. Then, crease the left and right sides of the paper along the sides of the gift card to leave crease marks. You will use these marks in the next step as a guide.

Step 5: Remove your gift card and fold both the left and right sides of the paper in along the creases you made in the previous step.

Step 6: Re insert your gift card under the left and right flaps. Then, fold the top edge down so that it is in line with the top of the gift card.
