  • You will need about 12 ounces (365 grams) of yarn

  • 15 mm hk (P/Q)

  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

*Wraps per inch (WPI) - this is a measure of yarn thickness. To measure WPI, count how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. There are more wraps for thinner yarn and fewer wraps for thicker yarn.

Stitches and Abbreviations - US Terms

  • Ch - Chain
  • Tr - Treble Crochet
  • St/s - Stitch/es
  • FO - Fasten off
  • [ ] at the end of each row indicates how many stitches there should be in that row.

Special Stitches

How to Treble Crochet

Step 1: Yarn over twice, insert hook into stitch and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).

Step 2: Next, yarn over and pull through two loops (3 loops on hook).

Step 3: Then, yarn over and pull through two loops (2 loops on hook).

Step 4: Yarn over and pull through remaining loops (1 loop on hook).

Foundation: Using Col A, Ch 72.

Row 1:  1 tr in 3rd ch from hook, 1 tr in each remaining ch. Turn. [70 tr].

Row 2: Ch2, 1 tr in same st as ch2, 1 tr in each remaining sts. Turn. [70 tr].

Finishing

Using the long tail for sewing, thread it onto a yarn needle. Join the short ends of the scarf together, lining up the rows. Make sure the scarf lays flat and is not twisted before you join.

Then, stitch the scarf together. Weave in any ends.
