This stitch is sometimes known as the "yarn over slip stitch." This stitch is very similar to the ordinary slip stitch, but there is an extra loop to pull through.

To make this stitch:

  1. Yarn over,
  2. Insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop. (3 loops on hook)
  3. Pull the first loop through the other 2 loops on the hook.
  4. Completed half double crochet slip stitch.

Adding the Fringe

Step 1: Cut yarn strands that are at least double the desired length of your fringe. You will also need a little extra for trimming.

We cut out strands to about 13 inches (33 cm) long. For the fringe, you could use all the same color yarn strands or mix it up and use a variety of different yarn colors. We liked to match your frige with the color row we were adding it to.

Once you have cut your strands, take 3 to 4 strands for each fringe and fold them in half.

Step 2: With the right side of the scarf facing down, insert your hook into the scarf's end space where you want the fringe to be. Then, place the folded yarn loops on to the hook.

Step 3: Pull the yarn strands and hook through the stitch, but don't pull the ends of the yarn strands through.

Then, wrap the ends of the yarn strands around the hook and pull them through the loop to create a knot. Gently tug of the strands to tighten the knot.
