There's something nice about having a dedicated place for your mug, especially when it's handmade and this sunflower crochet mug rug does exactly that.
It's slightly larger than a coaster, giving you space not just for your drink but also for a small snack, spoon, or tea bag.
This crochet sunflower mug rug blends practicality with a bit of decorative detail.
The sunflower element adds a focal point, while the base keeps it functional and easy to use on a desk, coffee table, or bedside.
If you've already made coasters, this sunflower mug rug crochet pattern feels like a natural next step.
It uses similar skills but gives you a slightly bigger, more "complete" finished piece. It's still quick to make, but feels a bit more substantial.
As a small giftable crochet project, this is a really strong option. It works well as a standalone gift or paired with a mug, tea, or coffee for a simple, thoughtful set.
It's also ideal for batching if you want to create multiple pieces for seasonal gifting or markets.
